Businessman and politician Willie Wilson does it again!
Former presidential candidate Willie Wilson is helping home owners save their property by donating $150,000 to help create a property tax relief fund with the Cook County Treasurer's office. Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin will also donate $5,000 to assist with helping property owners get out of debt.
Wilson said he is using his own money because it affects most vulnerable residents, especially senior citizens, during a conference on Wednesday in downtown Chicago.
"It
touched my heart because the fact of it is it could be my mother or your
mother," Wilson told reporters.
As part of the Good Samaritan Bond Pilot Willie Wilson who also ran up against Rahm Emanuel for mayor bailed over 100 inmates with misdemeanors out of jail last fall.
His initial plan was to donate $15,000 but he later promised to put up $50,000 with the hopes of bailing out 5,000 inmates by 2017.
For all property homeowners who need help with tax debt should apply at West Side Justice Center by March 31. Those who are selected will be required to sign a promissory note stating that the loan will be repaid by the following year.
